Growers of Herbs and Cut Flowers
Spring kicks starts our year on the farm. We are busy planting seeds and preparing the land for planting.
We grow herbs and cut flowers on the farm to supply individuals and local businesses.
March is one of the busiest months of the year with Mother’s Day.
Fiona creates planted arrangements and seasonal cut flower arrangements and works late into the night to ensure all those mothers out there are pampered on their special day.
Fiona is always creating new arrangements but her work is perhaps best recognised for her floral arrangement in a vintage cup (complete with gift box).
Once the arrangement is over mothers still have their beautiful teacup in order to have that, all important, cup of tea!
Although we cater for weddings all year round summer is, undoubtedly, our busiest wedding season.
At Nature’s Larder we pride ourselves on offering a truly bespoke flower service using seasonal flowers and fragrant herbs.
Fiona works with the bride to ensure that the floral designs are exactly as she imagines in her mind’s eye.
The farm suddenly gets very busy with lots of helpers pitching in.
We are also busy offering floral and horticultural courses which are always very popular.
Harvest Season!
We are fortunate to be almost self-sufficient in fruit & vegetables and autumn sees our big harvest.
Fiona and the children are busy making jams and chutneys using gluts from the farm and ‘freebies’ from the local hedgerows.
The autumn flowers always seem to sing out from the cut flower beds and, combined with hedgerow finds, make the most beautiful arrangements.
We have been busy harvesting herbs all summer into autumn and Fiona uses these in her unique herbal craft range.
Now I know that you think we hibernate on the farm during winter….far from it!
The run-up to Christmas is a very busy time. Harvesting for Christmas wreaths takes place all year but October signals the start of fruit drying and willow weaving.
Fiona creates both dried and fresh Christmas wreaths and sells them in our shop, Arran Trading Post in Bakewell and at local Farmers markets.
We take many special orders at this time of year and Fiona admits to always being slightly nervous when completing a customer order. She knows just how important it is to get it just right.
Each year Fiona runs a Christmas wreath making course where you can come along and make your own wreath.
It is Fiona’s favourite course of the year and includes mulled wine and warm mince pie.
Christmas starts here!
